Who we are
BoilerMatch UK is run by Robert Godwin. Contact: hello@boilermatchuk.com. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this notice, which is written to meet the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
BoilerMatch UK is an advertising and introduction service. We introduce homeowners to local heating installers. We are not Gas Safe registered and we do not install boilers.
What we collect
From homeowners and landlords: your enquiry details, including your name, contact details, postcode, and property and boiler details. If you choose, you can also give marketing consent, which is a separate and optional choice.
From installers: your business and contact details, the postcodes you cover, the fuel types you work on, your Gas Safe number, and your billing records.
From anyone using the site: basic technical information needed to serve pages, keep the site secure and remember your cookie choices.
Why we use it and our lawful bases
To pass a homeowner's enquiry to matched installers they asked to hear from: this is a step before entering a contract, and it also relies on our legitimate interests in running an introduction service.
To create and manage installer accounts and to bill installers for accepted leads and credit bundles: this is necessary to perform our contract with the installer.
To keep tax and accounting records: this is a legal obligation under UK tax law.
To send marketing emails: only where you have given your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time.
Who we share it with
We share a homeowner's details only with the installers matched to that enquiry, and never more than three of them. Each installer handles those details as an independent data controller.
We use a small number of service providers, acting as our processors, who are needed to run the service: our hosting and database provider, Stripe for installer payments, and our email sending provider for service and transactional emails. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with anyone else for their own purposes.
We do not currently send text messages. If that changes, this notice will be updated first.
If you allow marketing cookies, we may use Meta's advertising measurement tools to measure our adverts. That is off unless you turn it on.
International transfers
Some of our service providers may store or process data outside the UK. Where that happens, we rely on UK adequacy regulations, or on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
Homeowner enquiries are kept for up to 24 months after the last contact, then deleted.
Installer billing records are kept for as long as UK tax law requires.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask to see, correct or delete your personal data, ask us to restrict how we use it, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and ask for a copy in a portable format. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
To use any of these rights, email hello@boilermatchuk.com. We will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Cookies
We keep cookies and local storage to a minimum, and optional ones run only with your consent. That includes the homepage headline you are shown and how you arrived at the site, which are only remembered if you allow analytics cookies, and are stopped and cleared if you change your mind. What we set is listed in full in our cookies notice.
